Nurse's Night at Appetéz! | Print |  E-mail

On Monday, third semester MJC Nursing Students paired with Appetéz restaurant to fundraise for their scholarship and graduation ceremony.
Starting in October, nursing students sold tickets for Italian dinners from Appetéz.  Tonight people drove through Appetéz, and with the help of Appetéz staff, nursing students distributed boxes of lasagna, chicken penne alfredo, and macaroni and cheese to hungry community members on their way home from work.
As economic times are difficult, holding fundraisers like this is vital for groups to keep their programs going.  And sometimes selling take-out is the easiest way to go about it!

Calling all ghouls and ghosts and spirits of Halloween!  Come celebrate with us at the 'Tez!  If you stop by the cafe you'll find our staff bedecked in costumes and our specials to have a Halloween flair.

And we hope you'll give a taste to our vintages of the week:  Dracula Zinfandel and Vampire Pinot Grigio.

A sip of them won't necessarily give you eternal life, but you will surely be sampling something divinely intoxicating!

See you soon at the Terrifying 'Tez....

On Tuesday Appetéz hosted a Spanish Wine and Tapas Dinner as a fundraiser for Aimee Wallace Young. This lovely young woman is fighting an aggressive form of breast cancer.  The treatments she needs are not covered by her insurance company, and her family and friends are organizing fundraisers on her behalf.  To learn more about Aimee and her story, please see her blog: http://www.youcanhelpmymom.com/

We are happy to have been able to help Aimee, and send all our healing thoughts her way.

Thank you to Kevin Hawes for organizing this event, thank you to Dave Parra of the Henry Wine Group for providing delicious Spanish wine (as well as his expertise!), and the biggest thanks of all to those that attended this event. Your support will change lives.

Not your prettiest underwater creature you'll ever see-- not that you can expect too much from a being so prevalent in the muddy waters of the Mississippi!  but darn are they tasty!

Have you eaten catfish lately?  This Southern specialty is one of our features this week.  As ugly as they are in life, this fish is outstanding when served up on a plate, breaded with cornmeal and served with french fries and cole slaw.

Come see us at the Fireside Cafe today and give 'em a try!
